Vitamin D has gone from an “extremely unsafe” nutrient to one of the most researched and therapeutically used nutrients in the past thirty years. Having witnessed this transformation and taught about Vitamin D in biochemistry, pharmacology, and clinical medicine courses, Dr. Anderson has a unique perspective on the topic. This presentation will outline the physiology, pharmacology, and clinical management of this critical hormone / nutrient. Laboratory evaluation, effectors of metabolic dysfunction, and assessment will be discussed. Co-nutrients such as Vitamin-K will also be discussed. Dosing and administration of Vitamin D forms in oral, IM, and IV routes will be included as well.
